Brutus and I, along with the rest of the family are bracing for this massive winter storm.  We have been lucky so far this year and have not had a lot of snow, but they say today is going to make up for that.

We hope all of you that will be impacted by this storm stay safe during this time.  We wanted to share a few things we do with our pets in mind in preparation of a storm.

– Pet friendly ice melt or sand
– 1 jug of water for each pet, for each day the storm could keep you from short term power loss or inability to get to a store.  In summer months we normally double this.
–  Make sure you have enough pet food for a week of feedings.
– Wash all pet beds, blanket, etc.
– Stack dog towels by the door to dry off pets when they come inside.
– Turn up the heat in the house 3-6 hours prior to the storm.  While it may feel too hot, you will be thankful in the event that the power goes out.
