Brutus went in yesterday for his 8-week post-op X-rays and we got great news that his bones are healing nicely. While not 100% healed, we can now spend the next month increasing activity slowly in hopes of a return to normal activity in 4-6 weeks.
Brutus apparently took a bit of extra sedation to get him sleeping enough for his X-rays, so he is taking longer than usual to get back to normal. A little TLC and he should be good to go by tomorrow.
We got a list of things we can do to help him gain his stregth now that the bones are healing.
- Increase his walks by 10 minutes a day each week. Right now he does 30 minute walks every day as the weather allows. We will add 10 minutes to that each week for the foreseeable future until we are back to where we were pre-injury.
- Add hills and obstacles to walk over
- Create indoor obstacles for days when we can’t walk outside.
- Balance exercises to force him to use the leg and build muscle
- Sit to stand to sit exercises.
Vist our CCL surgery recovery page to track his progress. Unitl then, here are some photos of groggy Brutus from yesterdays procedure as well as his new x-rays.
Til next time.
