30 days in….

It has been almost a month since we began Brutus’s weight loss journey and things are going great.  If you have not been following his update page, please check it out.  We are up to about 16 miles so far and he loves it when I pack up our water and his to go bag and head for the door.  A mad sprint to the car and he is in and ready to go.  It is lots of fun.

A trip to the vet today to check on his weight showed that he lost 3 pounds so far. Not a lot, but a good steady amount considering we have not cut his food intake yet.  We only cut his treats to green beans only.  The vet is happy with his exercise and progress so far.

Brutus is still struggling with his feet issues due to allergies and we are trying another round of antibiotics to see if we can kick the infection in his right foot.  Swollen lymph nodes again are cause for concern, but most likely allergy / infection caused.  With his age, cancer is rare and unlikely.  I am impatient and the idea of waiting to see if this next course of antibiotics finally knocks it all out of him before testing his nodes for cancer is not an option.  I decided to nip this anxiety in the butt and do the test now.  A few syringes to aspirate his lymph nodes and off to the lab the samples go.  We should here back in 2-5 days, which will be the longest wait ever.

We will let you know how it goes.  Fingers crossed.

UPDATE: His test came back clear and everything is in good working order.

Till next time,

Brutus and L
