We have had snowy and icy weather in the last 24 hours. While Brutus and our other dogs love to play outside. their feet do not love it as much.

Here are a few tips for protecting your pooches pads.

 – Wash your dogs feet with a warm wash cloth when they come inside.
 – Apply a protective layer of bag balm or other protective balm to their feet before they go outside.
 – Limit their time outside to many short walks or play time instead of 1 long session. Spending too long outside at once can leave your dog susceptible to hypothermia and frostbite just like people.
 – If your dog will tolerate boots, then go ahead and try them. Make sure to fit them properly.

Lastly, use common sense. Your dogs and their feet will thank you for it.
