I haven’t really posted too much so far about Brutus’s struggles with allergies, but I hope to do so very soon.  While we have the majority of it under control, today I came home at lunch to find my big squishy boy had a case of hives.

The hives were not as bad as they could have been. The first time he had them was when he was little after getting bit by a spider.  His whole body was covered and his face was swollen.  Poor little guy.

Who knows what he got into this time, but thankfully I always have Benadyrl on hand.  It has been a lifesaver.  Always check with your veterinarian for correct dosages before giving any medication.

It is a good idea to find out from your vet what dosage your pet would get in the event that he has an allergic reaction.  If your pets are anything like mine, they will at some point get sick when the vet is closed.  Knowing what you can give, could really make your dog more comfortable until a vet can be reached.

You know what?  I think I will work on a post dedicated to items that you can have in your medicine cabinet just for your pet.  Stay tuned.
